Joseph Hilaire Pierre René Belloc (27 July 1870 – 16 July 1953) according to his biographer A.N Wilson, never wholly gave up his Roman Catholicism, and reaffirms his faith in this book pp. 158-161. His friendship with William Henry Hudson (4 August 1841 – 18 August 1922), came from their joint love of the Countryside.
