Louis Lucien Bonaparte was the third son of Napoleon's second surviving brother, Lucien Bonaparte. He was born at Thorngrove, mansion in Grimley, Worcestershire, England, where his family were temporarily interned after having been captured by the British en route to America. After a brief political career in France, he retired to Great Britain. TEXT My Dear Uncle I have just seen my uncle Joseph who keeps well. You asked if I have any news about my aunt Madame de Villeneuve who is much better. I have heard nothing fresh about my counsin's business, we only know that he has gone to Switzerland. I have heard no more talk about a duel, it is widely said that Vauchin does not care about fighting very much. The weather in Florence is mild, I hope it may improve again in Pisa. Please accept mu dear uncle, the feelings of respect and duty which I am, your most affectionate nephew Louis L. Bonaparte Florence 18th November 1842.
