Johann Ulrich Kraus (1655–1719) was an early German illustrator, engraver and publisher in Augsberg. This work became and apotheosis for designers and engravers of Cartouches and decoration in the Baroque era, illustrating facility and inventiveness of his business. Although his business suffered during the War of the Spanish Succession he nevertheless became a thriving, prosperous and respected citizen of Augsberg.
